Texel Sheep

Texel Sheep are a unique breed. They are such good converters of grass to muscle cutting out the need for so much grain finishing. The ewes are easy to maintain and require much less feed then more traditional American breeds. They are medium to small framed sheep therefore they need less feed to maintain themselves. Multiply that times a whole flock of Texel ewes versus a traditional American large framed flock of ewes and the savings becomes quite substantial.

Why you should choose Little Creek Texels?

Texel sheep are docile and very gregarious when it comes to moving and handling. One of our favorite characteristics of the breed is the wonderful mothering ability that they have. We don't have ewes that drop their lambs and walk away looking for the hay feeder. We demand that our ewes do their jobs, have lots of milk, and consistently twin year after year.

Texels are a perfect choice for those producers serving the ethnic& gourmet restaurant market. The purebred lambs finish out at smaller weights 90 - 120lbs.These lambs are not all knees and elbows at this lighter weight.

If you are a producer needing lambs to target larger finishing weights of 130- 140 then one of our Percentage Texels would most benefit you.

Which ever style of production you are in Texels will add $$ to your bottom line.
